Ralph Land (1943-47) - known
as Rolf Landsberger at school
'After leaving Willesden County in 1947,
taking a degree in Economics at the LSE and a first employment as a Research
assistant at the LSE, I like my brother Frank joined J Lyons and later joined
the pioneering LEO team to become after some years responsible for developing
the markets of East and Central Europe ( The Communist block) for LEO, later ICL
and then successively Rank Xerox and Rolls Royce Plc.
In the meantime I married Jacqueline who was working in London as a French Au
Pair. We have two near middle aged sons, two granddaughters and celebrated
50 years of marriage this year.
Now semi-retired, I am a Trustee of three NGO's , do a bit of consultancy and
lecturing and we travel a lot.
I was awarded an OBE for services to exports in 1985 which was upgraded to a CBE
in 1995'.
Sky Dive - 24th October 2010
Dear Friends
Although I have already written to some of you to thank you all for your
generosity in supporting the skydive of my twin Frank and myself to celebrate
our 82nd birthday but primarily to raise money for cancer research in memory of
my Jacqueline, who died from cancer just a year ago. We are thrilled and
delighted that our initial target of £5000 was comfortably exceeded so that we
have up to now received almost £13000 ( including Gift Aid) from a large number
of friends. Thank you all!
Some of you may have seen some of the photographs already but I attach a small
selection to give you a flavour of the event
Ralph
